Problem of traffic jams

The center line of water routes, which connects Lenexpo and the Alexander Nevsky Square, opens until the end of the month. More than 5000 passengers have used Primorskaya line, started in May. Our correspondent has also used this route.

The trip costs 50 rubles. The most difficult thing is to find stop-berths: they are marked with red-yellow dots on the map at the site of the Committee on transport-transit policy, but we could not find out the exact addresses.

We have found the pavilion on the Petrograd embankment between Sampsonievsky Bridge and Aurora. However, there were no signs or schedule – usual passenger would not expect water taxi there.

Ideally, the water taxi should run every 15-20 minutes depending on time of day. In less than five minutes, the boat came with a family of tourists on board.

The capacity of the boat is 10 passengers. Part of seats is situated outside, and others are inside the boat. The boat looks like a luxurious car inside. White sofas instead of usual seats are in there. The speed is high; the boat speeds up very quickly.

In fact, water taxi is the fastest way to get from the Finland Station to the "Black River". The entire trip on the route from Lenin Square to the Old Village is seven minutes, and 10 in the opposite direction - against the tide.

- Usually there are 350 passengers per day. Once it happens less, once more, - the captain explains. In general, since the beginning of the route 5000 passengers have traveled on it.

- It justifies our expectations, - the representative of the Committee on Transport and Transit Policy Ekaterina Hodarinova says. - Of course, this is not comparable to the passenger subway, but for the pilot project it is quite well. Until the end of June we will start the fourth "Central" line, and by this time we plan to equip all berths with signs and timetables. We plan to open new routes every year. This is a long-time project.
