July 2, 2010 – Day of Sea and River Fleet will be celebrated in St.Petersburg

The program of celebration:

13.00 - a ceremony of laying flowers at the monument "Sailors and Creators of the Fleet of Russia" (Peter's Embankment, 8)

15.00 - concert in the Octyabrsky Concert Hall

(Gathering of journalists at the service entrance at 14.30)

Maritime and river transport has always played a big role in the history of our country. For centuries, the Russian sailors and river men connect part of the country; strengthen the economic and political relations between the various states.

Professional holiday of sea and river fleet is celebrated annually on the first Sunday in July according to the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet on October 1, 1980. In 2010, it is the 30^th Anniversary.
